UN Secretary-General Condemns Deadly Attack on Peacekeepers in Central African Republic
The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, has strongly condemned a recent attack on peacekeepers in the Central African Republic (CAR), which resulted in the death of a Zambian peacekeeper and left another wounded. The ambush occurred on Friday in the volatile Vakaga Prefecture, near the border with Sudan.

– The attack targeted a UN peacekeeping mission patrol, MINUSCA, in the locality of Am-Sissia.
– The Secretary-General stressed that attacks against UN peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law.
– He urged the Central African authorities to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice swiftly.
– This incident marks the third fatal attack against MINUSCA peacekeeping patrols since the start of 2025.
