In South Africa’s Eastern Cape, entrepreneur and rural development advocate Babalwa Hopa is working to change that reality.

From humble beginnings in her family’s trading store in Gwaba, she has spent nearly three decades mastering retail, supply chains, logistics, and business development. Today, through the Mpembelelo MacFarlane Xotyeni Foundation (MMXF), she is building market pathways that connect emerging farmers to commercial opportunities, helping transform agriculture from subsistence farming into sustainable enterprise.
